In a world full that seems to be full of negativity from just about every angle, it’s nice to be treated to something uplifting. Sure, ‘Fun’ is built on the idea of returning to a simpler, happier time in your past, but it still makes you smile in the present. Samson Ashe explains that, to him, the track represents a time “when things were more simple and there was no price to who you were because nobody cared...I really miss that. Unapologetically I am who I am and I miss and need that fearless kid that grew up in Stamford Hill.” Summery production lays the perfect bed for Ashe’s voice, which just so happens to deliver one of 2020’s most memorable choruses.
